Russia has lost 628,930 soldiers since February 2022, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine says, according to The Kyiv Independent. According to Ukraine, Russia has lost as many as 1,140 soldiers in the last day.
Bloomberg reported in August that a shortage of soldiers might force Russia to announce a military launch later this year. Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a partial shutdown of the country in September 2022. Hundreds of thousands fled Russia as a result of the decision.
According to Ukraine, Russia has also lost 8,642 tanks, 16,938 armored vehicles, 24,388 vehicles and fuel tanks, 17,936 artillery systems, 1,182 multi-purpose missile systems, 943 air defense systems, 368 aircraft, 328 helicopters, 14,990 drones, and 28 ships and boats as well as one submarine.
Neither side of the war openly talks about their own losses.
